Circles Initiative - ResourcesUnite!

Circles connects volunteer Allies with families wanting to make the journey out of poverty. These Allies share their time, friendship and talents to support individuals as they work to reach their goals. There are barriers that keep even the most motivated from achieving prosperity—but Circles breaks down these barriers by expanding opportunity and resources, so families can create and follow their paths to stability.

Every Tuesday evening Circles meets at Prescott Elementary School from 5:30-8:00PM. A donated meal is served, and volunteer-led childcare provided (volunteers may bring their children). After dinner, weekly programming takes place that covers areas including leadership development, soft skills training, financial literacy, peer support, SMART goal assessment, career planning, creating action to solve poverty, and much more. We welcome community groups and organizations who are interested in leading a program at Circles. Please email us for more details.

The Dubuque Circles Initiative is part of an innovative national movement that works to engage individuals and the community in resolving poverty. It encourages growth from people of all financial classes, so we can work together to create deep and lasting change in Dubuque.

Provide a meal and break bread with us. Our weekly meetings begin with dinner—and what better way to build community and friendship than by sharing a meal together. Every meal we serve is donated from generous groups and families such as yours. Cook the meal yourself, or have it catered. Donations are also accepted. We have 60-75 people in attendance each week. Meetings are every Tuesday night at from 6:00-8:30PM.

Inspire a child by helping in our Kids’ Corner! While their parents actively work toward their goals, our Circles kids get to hang you with you! Play, read, mentor and have a blast in our Kids’ Corner. Work with other volunteers and interns to provide a safe, fun and educational experience for the children. Meetings are every Tuesday night at from 6:00-8:30PM.
