Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen! As Kiwanis clubs and members, we see it every day! We can help you find new ways to get to know people in your community. Connect with others—and get involved in projects that change lives. Kiwanis is all about making friends—and making an impact—in your local community. Kiwanis is home to the largest youth service programs in the world. Our local club programs empower elementary school students, tweens and teens to make an impact through service and leadership The Dubuque Downtown Kiwanis Club supports nearly 130 young people in our sponsored youth clubs. We support and mentor youth in the following Kiwanis Family clubs: • K-Kids at Hoover Elementary • Key Club at Hempstead High School • Key Club at Senior High School • Circle K at Clarke University
We also support over 35 members in the local Kiwanis Aktion Club. Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide. Our service projects are always evolving and currently include: • AYSO Kiwanis Soccerfest • Adopt a Highway – Highway 61 Cleanup • Downtown Cleanup • Serving a meal at the mission • Salvation Army Bell Ringing • Special Olympics Winter Games • Helping with activities at Fulton School • Other projects as needs arise We hold several fundraisers to support our youth programs and help local organizations. Those activities include: • AYSO Kiwanis Soccerfest • Key Club Pancake Breakfast • Kiwanis Food Booth at the Dubuque County Fair • Kiwanis Peanut Days • Kiwanis Super5K
Our club has been serving Dubuque since 1920 with service projects that respond to community needs. We focus on the needs of young children and in developing future generations of leaders. Traditional Club meetings are held every Monday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in downtown Dubuque at the Holiday Inn hotel, 450 Main Street. These meetings offer an atmosphere of fun, learning, and fellowship. An interesting speaker will discuss current topics of interest to the community. Can’t make our weekly meetings? We also offer a satellite group that meets from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on the third Wednesday of every month. Meetings are informal but fun and informative.
